Double Wonder—Bonus Card!

Hi, Friends,

It has been a good day today.  I did a bit of organizing in my craft room.  This time of year, with the new catalog coming out, means that I have to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of, and where to put new items that I get.  Today I labeled and put away my new in-color cardstock.  It is SO pretty!  Anyway, I wanted to share with you the very last card from our Double Wonder card set:

and the inside of the card:

The four DSP pieces on the front of the card are the "extra pieces" at the bottom of the left side of the cutting guide.  I turned them over so that all four pieces are different designs.

Here is the recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Rooted in Nature, Magnolia Blooms

CARDSTOCK:
     Petal Pink:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Petal Pink:  4-1/8 x 5-3/8
     Mossy Meadow:  3-1/4 x 3-3/4
Magnolia Lane DSP:  1-1/2 x 1-3/4 (4) (pieces cut from DSP according to cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow
          INSIDE:
               Mossy Meadow:  3-3/4 X 5
               Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow

BLENDS:  Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Birthday Dies (retired), Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Subtles Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

This was a really, really fun project and I hope to make other card sets using other DSP in the future!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have enjoyed this project!

Happy stamping,
Linda

Double Wonder Group Three!

Hi, Friends,
I certainly had fun yesterday—I signed up for an online card class put on by two Stampin’ Up! Demos.  They had several different classes but my favorite was the Mystery Stamping.  They gave us a few directions, then said to make a card and post it.  It was fun to see how different people used the same directions to make such different cards!  I have posted a Mystery Stamping Challenge on my Facebook Business Page—Linda’s Paper Sunshine—so come join us.  The first time can be a bit intimidating, but just relax and enjoy.  It was hard for me the first time I tried it, too, but it is good to stretch yourself a bit.  If we have three or more people participate I will randomly draw a name to receive a special prize (I love to give prizes)!

Today, I want to share with you the last group of four cards from the Double Wonder card set.  Here is a picture of the group:

These cards are actually a fun fold; it is a regular 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 card scored at 4-1/4, then scored at 1-1/4 and folded back to the front.  You can either leave the little flap loose, or you can adhere it down; I chose to adhere it to the card front.  This group of cards uses the 1" x 5-1/4" strips from the middle section of the cutting guide.  The shorter strip at the bottom is used on Group Two of the cards.

Decide how you want to use the strips on the cards; after you have divided them out, one strip is adhered to the inside of the card base, a second strip is adhered to the 1-1/4" panel that has been folded back onto the card front.  I have taken a couple of pictures of the card standing up so you can see what it looks like:

and a second picture of the card standing up:

I have pictures of each of the cards and will give you dimensions for each card.

Double Wonder—Second Group!

Hi, Crafty Friends,

Hope you guys are all doing well!  I miss all my crafting friends and can hardly wait until we can have in person events again!  But, until then, I am trying to work on ideas to share as much as possible with you online!  The Double Wonder is a fun way to make several cards.  I cut my Designer Series Paper (DSP) up according to the cutting guide (found in my May 12, 2020 post), then made a group of cards (the set of four that is the same design, like I am showing you today) each day.  But if you are a fast stamper, you could do the whole thing at one setting.  I probably tend to overthink everything!

Today, I am sharing with you the second group of cards from my Double Wonder.

This group uses the same basic items as the first group I shared.  The sentiments came from four stamp sets:  SO SENTIMENTAL, HEALING HUGS, ROOTED IN NATURE, and SERIOUSLY THE BEST (this one is retiring, so if you like it order it soon).  I also used the same basic colors of cardstock and ink:  Crumb Cake, Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow cardstock, and Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede ink.

The DSP pieces I used on this group of cards is on the top left side of the cutting guide.  You should have four pieces that measure 2-1/4 x 3-1/2.  I turned them over so that I had one of each pattern to make these four cards, then determined my colors from there.

The instructions I was following called for this group to be TWO cards.  She used two pieces of the DSP, one at the top, one at the bottom, and had a short, thin piece of DSP separating the two (I used one of the short pieces on the card with the Petal Pink card base with the Hello Friend Sentiment).  The other thin strip was the only piece from the DSP that I did not use.  I revised the card a bit, and used only one of the 2-1/4 x 3-1/2 pieces of DSP on each card, meaning that I could make four cards instead of two!  So do it either way you like, making two cards or four cards!

My Basic Cutting Instructions for this group of cards:

CARD BASE:  5-1/2 X 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
BACK PANEL:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
TOP SOLID PANEL:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
DSP PANEL:  2-1/4 x 3-1/2 (from pieces you have already cut with cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  to cut out sentiment, scalloped circle and leaves
INSIDE COLORED CARDSTOCK:  3-3/4 x 5
INSIDE WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

I am also giving you the more specific instructions for each of the cards I made.

CARD ONE:

STAMPS:  Seriously the Best, Magnolia Blooms

CARDSTOCK:
     Petal Pink:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Mossy Meadow:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Whisper White:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
Magnolia Lane DSP:  2-1/4 x 3-1/2 (from DSP cut according to cutting guide)
Magnolia Lane DSP:  3/4 x 4 (from DSP cut according to cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Petal Pink, and Mossy Meadow
     INSIDE:
          Mossy Meadow:  3-3/4 x 5
          Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

BLENDS:  Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Birthday Dies (retired), Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Subtles Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Glue Dots

Here is the inside of Card One:

As with the first group of cards, I stamped the little flower from the Magnolia Blooms stamp set using Soft Suede ink and colored it using the markers.

CARD TWO:

STAMPS:  Rooted in Nature, Magnolia Blooms

CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Petal Pink:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Mossy Meadow:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
Magnolia Lane DSP:  2-1/4 x 3-1/2 (from DSP cut according to cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow
     INSIDE:
          Petal Pink:  3-3/4 x 5
          Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

BLENDS:  Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circle Dies, Birthday Dies (retired), Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Subtles Embossing Folder, Burlap Ribbon, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

The inside of Card Two looks like this:

I used Soft Suede ink to stamp the little flower from the Magnolia Blooms stamp set and colored it using Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Blends Markers.

CARD THREE:

STAMPS:  So Sentimental, Magnolia Blooms

CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Mossy Meadow:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Whisper White:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
Magnolia Lane DSP:  2-1/4 x 3-1/2 (from DSP cut according to cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow
     INSIDE:
          Mossy Meadow:  3-3/4 x 5
          Whisper White:  3-5/8 X 4-7/8

INK:  Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

BLENDS:  Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Birthday Dies (retired), Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Subtles Embossing Folder, Burlap Ribbon, Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Glue Dots

Inside of Card Three:

I colored the small flower with markers that I stamped with Soft Suede ink in the lower right corner of the inside panel.

CARD FOUR:

STAMPS:  Healing Hugs, Magnolia Blooms

CARDSTOCK:
     Mossy Meadow:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Petal Pink:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Crumb Cake:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
     Magnolia Lane DSP:  2-1/4 x 3-1/2
SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow
          INSIDE:
               Petal Pink:  3-3/4 x 5
               Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

BLENDS:  Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Birthday Dies (retired), Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Burlap Ribbon, Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Glue Dots

I used Soft Suede ink to stamp the small flower on the inside lower right of the card, then colored it using the Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow markers.  The Soft Suede ink did not run, and it made the flower look softer, more like the flowers in the DSP.

I sure hope you enjoyed these projects!  I hope you will use the cutting guide, Julie's directions, and my directions to make a Double Wonder card set of your own!  Hopefully tomorrow I will post the third set of three cards, and Sunday or Monday I will post the bonus card!

Stay safe and sane (stamping and sending cards helps)!

Happy stamping,
Linda

Double Wonder — First Grouo!

Hi, Friends,

This has been one of those days when my head feels foggy, you know, when it feels like cobwebs in your head!  Everything I have done today felt like it was in slow motion!  It helped when the sun came out (I love sunshine).  Anyway, I don’t feel like I accomplished much today, but I want to get the first group of cards shared with you from the Double Wonder project!

Here are the four cards we will start with:

I chose four sentiments that would fit in my Stitched Shapes Dies Circle (I used the next to the largest die).  The stamps are from ROOTED IN NATURE, SERIOUSLY THE BEST, SO SENTIMENTAL, and HEALING HUGS stamp sets.  I used the same sentiments for every card set, but you could use a different sentiment on every card!

I chose to use three different colors of cardstock:  MOSSY MEADOW, CRUMB CAKE and PETAL PINK.  I used MOSSY MEADOW and SOFT SUEDE ink for all of the projects.

This group of cards uses the Designer Series Paper (DSP) pieces from the right side of your cuts.  There should be 12 pieces that measure 1-1/2 x 3.  You will use three pieces of the 1-1/2 x 3 DSP on each of the cards.  Remember that each of the pieces has a front and back print, so turn them over and mix and match until you are happy with the result.  You could also use matching pieces on each card--have all three panels on the card match.

I will post a picture and recipe for each of the four cards, but here is a general list:
     CARD BASE:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     FRONT PANEL:  3-1/4 x 5
DSP PANELS:  1-1/2 x 3 (from cutting up your DSP according to the cutting guide)
SCRAPS:  for sentiment circle, scalloped circle and leaves
     INSIDE:
          Colored Cardstock:  3-3/4 x 5
          Whisper White Cardstock:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

Remember that you can use any die cut or punch for your sentiment.  If you search for Double Wonder on Pinterest, you can see a wide variety of die cuts and punches and DSP used on this project!

I love how the cards go together, but all look different.  This set of 13 cards would make a lovely gift for someone very special!  Put them in a special box, or even just tie them together with a ribbon and put a tag on it.  The little flower from the inside would also look cute stamped and colored on the envelopes.

This has been a long post, with lots of pictures, but I hope you have enjoyed it!  Thanks for stopping by, and I will post the next four cards of our project very soon!

Happy stamping,
Linda

Double Wonder Cards!

Hi, Crafty Friends,
I miss seeing you guys SO MUCH!  As an introvert, I really don’t mind being at home and even being by myself, but enough is enough.  I am struggling a bit with the staying in and not seeing friends, but if it means staying safe and helping others stay safe then I am OK with staying in.  I am very thankful to have Doyle at home again.

I am working hard at organizing/reorganizing/once again organizing my craft room.  I hope at some point to be able to have my annual yard sale—lots of goodies need a new home!  I am also working on the card buffet boxes, finishing up older ones and coming up with new cards.  What what I have enjoyed most, I think, is time to just create for fun.  It reminds me why I do this and what makes me happy!  One of the projects I enjoyed is a Double Wonder.  Some of you may have seen something called a One Sheet Wonder, where someone shows how to cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to use on a number of different cards.  Shannon West works for Stampin’ Up! and is the originator of the Double Wonder.  She chose two sheets of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that coordinated well (be sure to look at the back sides as well because you use both sides).  I have seen just about every DSP used for this, but the post I actually used to make my cards is from an SU Demo named Julie Davison.  Click HERE to see her post.

Here is a picture of the cards I made:

And here are the cutting instructions for the DSP:

Find the card sketches/Julie's directions HERE.

Tomorrow, I will post the first group of cards and give you the list of dimensions and products I used on them!  Remember that you can use whatever DSP that you prefer, and use whatever sentiments you wish!  Have fun with this project!

Thanks for stopping by today!  #makeacardsendacard

Happy stamping,
 Linda

Outdoor Barbeque, Take Two!

Hi, Friends,
Today is my son-in-law’s birthday, and I know he already has his card, so I can post it now!

The card is a gift card holder.  The inside looks like this:

and a picture of the project laying flat:

I don't have complete directions for this one, I only made one of them, and didn't measure it before I sent it.  The basic card is 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 1-1/2 and 5-1/2.  I used Memento Black ink, Basic Black cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, and Smoky Slate cardstock.  I used the Stitched Shapes dies, Special Days dies, and Layering Squares Dies, the Big Shot, Magnetic Platform.  I used the spritzer (retired) again.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this project.  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy stamping,
Linda
