LIGHT AND PEACE CHRISTMAS CARD November 2019 Play Day

Hi, Stamping Friends!
It is a beautiful sunny day today, so I grabbed my camera and took photos of our Play Day projects so I could get some good pictures.  This card, in particular, was a bit tricky to get a good picture of, since I wanted the shiny stars to show!  Here is a picture:

I REALLY, REALLY love this card!  I actually bought the set "on principle"; I want Stampin' Up! to make nice religious stamp sets, and so when they put one out like this, I buy it.  But I also am trying to use ALL the stamps I buy (what a concept, right?) so when November Play Day came around, I pulled it out and decided to have a project using it.  And what better Designer Series Paper to use than the beautiful Brightly Gleaming with the Copper Foil stars?  My goal was to make a simple card without heat embossing, so I stamped the shepherd/sheep image using Night of Navy ink.  The Copper Foil and Copper Foil stars in the DSP are gorgeous!  I also kept the inside of the card simple:

My recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Light and Peace

CARDSTOCK:
     Night of Navy:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Copper Foil:  4 x 5-1/4
     Very Vanilla:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
     Brightly Gleaming DSP:  1-1/2 x 3-7/8
     Copper Foil:  1/4 x 3-7/8
     SCRAPS:  Copper Foil, Very Vanilla
     INSIDE:
          Very Vanilla:  3-3/4 x 5

INK:  Night of Navy

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Ovals Framelits, Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Dimensionals, Star Designer Elements

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1.  Use Night of Navy ink to stamp signature stamp on back of card base.

2.  Stamp sentiment on inside panel of Very Vanilla cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  Adhere to inside of card base.

3.  Use Night of Navy ink to stamp shepherd image on the left side of the front Very Vanilla cardstock.  Adhere strip of Brightly Gleaming DSP to left side of Very Vanilla panel.  Adhere strip of Copper Foil to seam.

4.  Adhere stamped panel to Copper Foil; adhere to front of card base.

5.  Stamp verse on scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock using Night of Navy ink.  Cut out using Stitched Shapes Framelit and Big Shot.  Cut out scalloped oval from Copper Foil using Ovals Layering Framelits and Big Shot.  Adhere sentiment oval to scalloped Copper Foil die cut.  Attach to front of card base using dimensionals.

6.  Attach star from Star Designer Elements on top of the star in the stamped image.

This card would be very easy to assembly line stamp if you are making a bunch of cards to send out for the Christmas holidays!

Thanks for stopping by to see our Play Day project!  Hope you have a wonderful day with lots of crafting time!

Happy stamping,
Linda

BIRDS OF A FEATHER Halloween Card Buffet Project!

Hi, Stampin Friends,
I don’t normally do Halloween cards.  It isn’t really that I am for or against the holiday, I am just usually busy making Christmas cards, or other occasion cards, and just skip Halloween.  I also don’t have a lot of “little people” to mail a Halloween card to.  But this year, the Birds of a Feather Stamp Set was so stinking cute that I just had to make some cards with it for the card buffet I had as a vendor for the Salvation Army Crop in September.  Here is my card:

Isn't the little duck pirate cute?  He was SO fun to color with my Blends markers!  Anyway, here is my recipe to make the card:

STAMPS:  Birds of a Feather

CARDSTOCK:
     Cajun Craze:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Basic Black:  4 x 5-1/4
     Crushed Curry:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
     Toil & Trouble DSP (retired):  1-1/2 x 3-7/8
     SCRAPS:  Whisper White, Cajun Craze
     INSIDE:
          Basic Black:  3-3/4 x 5
          Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Memento Black

BLENDS:  Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Cajun Craze

ACCESSORIES:  Stitched Shapes Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Burlap Ribbon, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Rhinestones

Below is the inside of my card.  I stamped the stars in a row across the bottom of the inside panel and colored them with my trusty Blends markers!

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1.  Use Memento black ink to stamp signature stamp on the back of the card base.

2.  Stamp stars across the bottom of the inside panel using Memento black ink.  Color using Blendabilities.

3.  Adhere inside panels together; adhere to inside of card base.

4.  Adhere Toil and Trouble DSP (retired) strip onto the bottom of the Crushed Curry cardstock panel.  Adhere Burlap Ribbon at seam.  Tie linen thread around Burlap Ribbon.

5.  Use Memento black ink to stamp sentiment just above Burlap Ribbon.

6.  Adhere panel to Basic Black cardstock; adhere to front of card base.

7.  Stamp duck pirate using Memento black ink onto scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut out using Stitched Shapes Framelit and Big Shot.  Color using Blends markers.

8.  Use scalloped circle die from Circles Layering Framelits to cut a scalloped circle from scrap of Cajun Craze cardstock.  Adhere stamped circle to Cajun Craze scalloped circle.  Attach to card front using dimensionals.

9.  Add rhinestones (see photo for placement).

I hope you enjoy the project I shared today!  Have an awesome day; I hope it includes time for crafting!

Happy stamping,
Linda

LOTS OF CHEER For Christmas: October Play Day 2019

Hi, Stampin’ Friends,
Today I am sharing a project with you that we made at October Play Day.  As soon as I saw this stamp when the catalog came out I knew I wanted to make a card with it; I just kind of fell in love with this sweet snowman!  Anyway, here is the project:

I also fell in love with the beautiful Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon when we used it on this project!  The ribbon is SO PRETTY and looks gorgeous on this card (the picture doesn't do it justice!).

Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Lots of Cheer

CARDSTOCK:
     Night of Navy 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Mossy Meadow  4 x 5-1/4
     Brightly Gleaming DSP  3-7/8 x 3-7/8
     Brightly Gleaming DSP  1-1/2 x 3-7/8
     SCRAPS:  Very Vanilla, Mossy Meadow
     INSIDE:
          Mossy Meadow  3-3/4 x 5
          Very Vanilla  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Memento Black, Pretty Peacock

BLENDS:  Pretty Peacock (Light), Mossy Meadow (Light), Pumpkin Pie (Dark)

ACCESSORIES:  Rectangle Stitched Dies, Magnetic Platform, Big Shot, Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack, Reversible Ribbon (Old Olive/Pretty Peacock), Lakeside Framelits

The inside of the card looks like this:

I am not fond of "naked" insides, so I used a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock matted onto a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.  I stamped the top portion of the snowman and colored him with Blends markers (my very favorite!).

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1.  Use Memento Black ink to stamp signature stamp on back of card.
2.  Stamp top of snowman stamp using Memento Black ink on lower right corner of inside panel of
Very Vanilla cardstock.  Color using Blends markers.
3.  Adhere inside panels together; adhere to inside of cardstock.
4.  Adhere DSP panels to Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Adhere Reversible Ribbon with the Pretty
Peacock side showing to the seam.  Tie Mossy Meadow twine from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon
Combo around the ribbon.  Adhere panel to card base front.
5.  Use Memento Black ink to stamp snowman on scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Cut out using
Rectangle Stitched Shapes and Big Shot (I used the fourth framelit from the largest).  Make sure
stamped image is toward the top of the die cut.  Color snowman using Blends markers.
6.  Use Rectangle Stitched Framelits (third framelit from the largest) to cut out a Mossy Meadow die
cut.  Adhere the stamped image to the Mossy Meadow die cut.  Attach to card front using
     dimensionals.
7.  Stamp sentiment using Pretty Peacock ink on scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Cut out using die
from Lakeside Framelits and Big Shot.  Use paper snips to snip off decorative ends.  Use long,
skinny die from Rectangle Stitched Framelits to cut out a Mossy Meadow die cut.  Adhere
sentiment to Mossy Meadow die cut.  Adhere just below the stamped.
8.  Adhere rhinestones (see sample picture for placement).

We enjoyed making this card at Play Day and I hope you will enjoy making it as well!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy stamping,
Linda

Hi, Friends,
Today I am sharing with you a project we made at our September Play Day using Perfectly Plaid stamp set and Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper, or DSP!

This card was fun to make and would be easy to make a bunch for all your friends at Christmas.  The Toile Tidings DSP has lots of similar designs for the top part of the card, too, so one package will make a lot of cards.

The inside of the card looks like this:

Here is my recipe for this card:

Free As A Bird Fun Fold Card!

Hi, Stamping Friends,

We just returned from a weekend trip to Grand Marais, Minnesota.  It is a quaint little town located on the north shore of Lake Superior that has awesome food, relaxing atmosphere and the best pie and frozen custard ever!  We saw a beautiful rainbow as we were waiting for a table at the Angry Trout restaurant.  The unique thing was that it wasn’t raining at the time.

But I also wanted to share with you this fun fold card we made using the Free As A Bird stamp set at our August Play Day:

When the small flap is opened, it looks like this:

And when the other flap is open, it looks like this:

It is easy to make this card.  First, I adhered the "birdcage" DSP to the Whisper White card stock panel.  I adhered that panel to the Old Olive panel.  Then I used a strong adhesive (Tear and Tape) to adhere the small portion of the small flap to the back of the Old Olive panel.  It will look like this from the front:

and like this from the back:

Then add your adhesive to the Old Olive panel and adhere to the card base.  It will look like this from the front:

and this from the back:

You are now ready to decorate the card as you desire.

CARD RECIPE:

     STAMPS:  Free As A Bird

     CARDSTOCK:
          Card Base:
               Crumb Cake:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
               Old Olive:  4 x 5-1/4
               Whisper White:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
               Bird Ballard DSP:  1-1/2 x 5-1/8
          Small Flap:
               Crumb Cake:  3 x 4-1/4, scored at 1-1/4
               Old Olive:  2-3/4 x 2-3/4 (cut two)
Scrap:  Whisper White (cut out with Stitched Shape Square framelit)
          Outside Front:
               Old Olive:  2-1/2 x 5-1/4
               Bird Ballard DSP:  2-3/8 x 5-1/8

     INK:  Memento Black

BLENDS:  Old Olive, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight (D), Petal Pink, Pool Party, Calypso Coral (L)

     ACCESSORIES:
          Rhinestones
          Stitched Shapes Framelits
          Magnetic Platform
          Big Shot

Please notice that I did NOT use dimensionals on this card!  It is one of the few cards that I haven't used dimensionals on, so I thought I would point that out!

HOW I MADE IT:
1.  Use Memento Black ink to stamp signature stamp on back of card base.
2.  Adhere birdcage paper to Whisper White card stock; adhere to Old Olive card stock.
3.  Adhere 1-1/4" panel of smaller Crumb Cake panel to back of larger Old Olive panel.  Adhere Old Olive panel to inside of card base.
4.  Cut one stitched shape square using a scrap of Whisper White card stock and Big Shot.  Stamp flower image in lower left corner using Memento black ink.  Color flower image with markers.
5.  Adhere stamped image to Old Olive cardstock.  Adhere to inside of small Crumb Cake flap.
6.  Stamp bird image on scrap of Whisper White card stock using Memento black ink.  Cut out using square framelit and Big Shot.  Stamp sentiment using Memento black ink.  Color with markers.
7.  Adhere stamped image to Old Olive square; adhere to front of small Crumb Cake flap.
8.  Adhere flowered DSP to Old Olive cardstock.  Adhere to front of card base.
9.  Add rhinestones next to sentiment.

See picture images above to help you with assembling the card.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed the card!
