September 2013 Play Day Projects, Project Four

Hi friends,

Today I am sharing the fourth project we made at September Play Day.  This project was CASED, almost exactly, from a beautiful card crafted by Amy Storrie.

Here is the project:

TIP:  If you try to make one of these cards, be sure to save the little cutouts from the "e" and the "y" so you can glue them to your card.  Otherwise, it looks kind of strange!  Also, add a piece of wax paper between the cardstock and the framelit when you run it thru the Big Shot, it makes removing the little pieces much easier!!!

My recipe:

STAMPS:  A Banner Christmas, Joyful Christmas (inside sentiment)

CARDSTOCK:
     Textured Smoky Slate:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Pool Party:  4 x 5-1/4
     Silver Glimmer Paper:  2-3/4 x 4-3/4
     Whisper White:  2-1/2 x 4-1/2
     Pool Party:  3-3/4 x 5
     Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Encore Silver

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy stampin and scrappin,
Linda

ACCESSORIES:  Silver 1/8" Ribbon, Dimensionals, Expression Thinlit Die, Big Shot, Wax Paper, Monoadhesive Liquid Glue, Paper Piercer

September 2013 Play Day Projects, Project Three

Hello friends,

Just wanted to share another of our September Play Day projects with you.  This one uses the Circle Thinlit Framelit set, which is now available from Stampin Up.  It is really fun and easy to use!  Here is our project:

This card is very pretty, the ornament and scalloped circle are popped up with dimensionals.  Here is another view:

The white section gives you a nice place to write a message or to just sign your name.  The third vies of this card, which shows the back of the circle with the stamped sentiment:

My recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Christmas Collectibles, Wishing You

CARDSTOCK:
     Cherry Cobbler:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2
     Old Olive:  2-1/4 x 5-1/4
     Season of Style DSP:  2-1/8 x 5-1/8
     Baked Brown Sugar:  2-1/4 x 5-1/4
     Whisper White:  2-1/8 x 5-1/8
     Season of Style DSP:  5-1/2 x 5-7/8
Scraps:  Baked Brown Sugar, Old Olive, Whisper White

INK:  Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler

MARKERS:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar

ACCESSORIES:  Circle Card Thinlits, Circle Framelits, Big Shot, 2-1/2 Circle Punch, 2-3/8 Circle Scallop Punch, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Linen Thread, Sponge, Christmas Ornament Punch

I used the instructions from Jan Tinklenberg's excellent tutorial for making the panels for the Circle Card Thinlit Die, which can be found on her blog.

September 2013 Play Day Projects, Project Two

The bow die for the Big Shot was introduced at the Stampin Up Annual Convention this year, and one of the samples they showed at that time was a card very similar to this one:

I basically just changed the card from a birthday card to a Christmas card.  I also saw a similar card on Julie Davidson's blog and she has an excellent video tutorial if you are interested in making this card.

When the card opens up, it looks like this:

A gift card is attached to the inside part that comes up when the card is opened!  The reason you sww the sentiment on the framelit piece is that I forgot to stamp the sentiment until after my card was together and I found out that it doesn't stamp well when you try to stamp with a bow on the other side!  So I fixed the awful stamping by restamping the sentiment and cutting it out with the little framelit, then covering my mistake!

My recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  A Gift for You (single stamp), More Merry Messages

CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 1-1/2 and 7
     Crumb Cake:  3-5/8 x 5, scored at 1/4 and 4
     Season of Style DSP:  1-1/4 x 4
     Silver Glimmer Paper:  1 x 4-1/4
     Old Olive:  1/4 x 4-1/4
     Scraps:  Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler

INK:  Baked Brown Sugar

ACCESSORIES:  Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Gift Bow Die, Big Shot, Large Scallop Edgelit, Label Bracket Punch, Linen Thread, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Glue Dots, Apothecary Accents Framelits

Thanks for stopping by!

September 2013 Play Day, Project One!

Hi friends!  I finally took some pictures of my "current" projects, and commanded the desktop computer for a few minutes, so thought I would post some projects.

The first project is one from our September Play Day.  I saw the file folder cards posted on Patty Bennett's blog using the new Envelope Punch Board and decided to do a Christmas card.  Patty has an excellent video tutorial showing how to use the Envelope Punch Board to make file folders.

and here is a picture of the pocket (inside the card):

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Christmas Messages

CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  5-1/2 x 6-3/4, scored at 2-1/2
Tag a Bag (cut apart bag and cut strip 2-1/2 x 5-1/2)

     Whisper White:  3-3/4 x 4-1/2

Scraps:  Basic Black, Season of Style DSP

INK:  Old Olive, Versamark, Whisper White Craft Ink

ACCESSORIES:  White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Dimensionals, Deco Labels Framelits, Big Shot, Envelope Punch Board, Essentials Hardware Clips, Linen Thread, Season of Style Washi Tape, Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder, 1" Circle Punch, Sponge

Wildflower Meadow June Play Day Project!

Here is another project we made at June Play Day:

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Wildflower Meadow

CARDSTOCK:
     Sahara Sand:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Tempting Turquoise:  4 x 5-1/4
     Whisper White:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8

INK:  Sahara Sand

MARKERS:  Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive

ACCESSORIES:  Brayer, Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder, Big shot, Pearls, Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon, Paper Snips

This was a fast and easy card.  We brayered the entire Wildflower Meadow stamp with Sahara Sand ink, then colored the one flower with the Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive markers, "huffed" on it to rejuvenate the ink and stamped onto the Whisper White cardstock.  Then the stamped cardstock was put through the Big Shot with the Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder.

Puck Play Waterfall Birthday Card!

My son is a big hockey fan, his team is the Nashville Predators.  So I have been hunting for retired hockey stamps, since we have no current Stampin Up sets.  Last summer, I managed to snag a set called Puck Play, and recently made this card for my son's birthday.  My son was very impressed with the card, by the way!  He was also pleased that the Predators won their game on his birthday!  This is how the card looks closed:

The second flap open:

Third flap:

And all the way open:

I used a copy of an actual hockey ticket on the pull tab, fortunately I save stuff like that just in case!!!

I used Night of Navy and More Mustard to make the card, as close as I could come to Preds colors.

Thanks for stopping by!  Go Preds!

Happy stampin and scrappin,

Punch Art Baby Card for March Play Day

Last year at convention, I received an awesome swap card from Jackie Topa that everyone loved.  I decided to CASE it for one of my March Play Day projects:

Here is my recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Take Care, Itty Bitty Banners

CARDSTOCK:
     Marina Mist:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Whisper White:  4 x 5-1/4
Scraps:  Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist

INK:  Marina Mist, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink

MARKERS:  Early Espresso, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Basic Black

ACCESSORIES:  Clouds Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Big Shot, Sponge, Dimensionals, Small Heart Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Extra Large Oval Punch, Small Oval Punch, Pretty in Pink brad, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack

To make the cute "banner" sentiment, stamp the "Sweet Baby" twice, cut out with the framelits, then cut one banner in half.  Attach a half to each end of the banner with a dimensional and use glue dots to attach it to the card.

To make the "diaper", use two sided tape on the top of the diaper, then a dimensional at the bottom to give a bit of dimension to the card.

Happy stampin and scrappin,

Organizing My Embossing Powder!

I am currently on a quest to organize my craft room, and actually haven't gotten far in to the process.  I am hopefully clearing it out for new paint and a new floor, then returning everything to a new home (hopefully)!

One of the drawers in my craft room held my little jars of embossing powder, quite a few of them, in fact.  It was always frustrating to me to have to sort thru the drawer to find the jar I wanted.  The color is in small print on the lid, but I usually picked it up on the wrong side, so the print was upside down, etc.  The only ones that were easy to find were the colors, the Pool Party, Wild Wasabi, etc.

Today I went shopping.  We had taken our really good griddle to Gatlinburg at Christmas time, and unfortunately for us, left it there.  So I found one at Bed Bath and Beyond that I liked.  It was a bit more money than I wanted to spend, so I waited a few days to make sure that was what I wanted.  I know, I should have waited for a coupon, but I didn't.  Anyway, when I went in, I saw one of the K-cup drawers, the one that the K-cup Machine sits on top and all the little cups of flavored coffee, etc. go in the drawers.  And I had an "ah-haa" moment!

I brought it home (again, without a coupon) and loved it.  It has six rows for K-cups, or embossing powder jars, and holds at least six jars in each one.

Then I had another "ah-haa" moment!  What if I punched out circles of cardstock that matched the embossing powders and adhered them to the top of the jars?  I did it and it looks so good, and I know that I will love it!  Here is a picture of my lovely organized embossing powder:

The only ones that I wrote on were the pewter, since we don't have Pewter Cardstock.  I used Basic Gray cardstock for the pewter jars.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Happy stamping and scrapping (and embossing)!
Linda

Serene Silhouettes Convention 2012 Swap

This card is one I made last June for a convention swap, I believe it was called Fancy Folds and Cards that Move!  I love the way it turned out!

This fold is called by several names, but the first one I heard was Funky Fold.  I love the way it stands up to be displayed!  I used the Funky Fold directions found on Laura Lipe's blog at http://smileslaura.blogspot.com/2011/03/leprachaun.html. They are easy to follow and it makes a really fun card!
Here is a picture of the inside of the card:
