Elementary Elegance SAB Birthday Card CASE

I really love this card; it is a CASE of a card created by fellow SU demo Dawn Olechafski.  About the only thing I changed was the ribbon (she used Pool Party Seam Binding ribbon and I used the ruffled Pool Party ribbon).  I would have never thought to use this color combination (Pool Party and Peach Parfait) but I really love it together.  We made this card at Sheila's workshop a couple of weeks ago.

Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Elementary Elegance, Bring on the Cake

CARDSTOCK:
     Peach Parfait:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
     Very Vanilla:  3 x 3
     Peach Parfait:  3-1/8 x 3-1/8
     Pool Party:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
Scraps:  Very Vanilla, Peach Parfait, Everyday Enchantment DSP
     INSIDE:
          Pool Party:  3-3/4 X 5
          Peach Parfait:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4
          Very Vanilla:  3-3/8 x 4-5/8

INK:  Peach Parfait, Pool Party

Mixed Bunch/Blossom Punch Card

Here is a card we made with the residents at Morning Pointe in February.  It uses the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the coordinating punch, Blossom Punch.  There are so many possibilities with this stamp set and punch!  This card is a CASE of one by Mary Brown, aka Stampercamper.

The flower was stamped with Versamark onto Velumn, sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and heated with the Heat Gun, then punched out with the Blossom Punch.  A second flower was punched from Wisteria Wonder and placed behind the velumn.  Here is another view of the flower:

Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Elementary Elegance, Mixed Bunch

CARDSTOCK:
     Whisper White:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
     Wisteria Wonder:  4 x 5-1/4

Everyday Enchantment Birthday Card

I have several birthdays coming up, so needed to make a few cards (work ahead?  WOW! What a concept!).  Anyway, I saw a card by Ruth Norton, a fellow Stampin Up demo, on Stampin Connection, a demo only web site.  I CASED her sketch, used the same stamp set, but totally different colors and I used DSP instead of embossed cardstock.  I don't know if the picture will do it justice, because the colors are SO bright and cheerful--I just love the Everyday Enchantment DSP!

The little brad from the Everyday Enchantment brad and ribbon pack adds just the right touch!

Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Curly Cute, On Your Birthday

CARDSTOCK:
     Pool Party:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Calypso Coral:  3-3/4 x 5
     Very Vanilla:  3-5/8 x 4-1/2
     Very Vanilla:  7/8 x 3-5/8
     Everyday Enchantment DSP:  1-1/2 x 5
     Scraps:  Calypso Coral
     INSIDE:
          Calypso Coral:  3-3/4 x 5
          Very Vanilla:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8

INK:  Calypso Coral

ACCESSORIES:  Tasteful Trim Die, Big Shot, Boho Blossoms Punch, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Everyday Enchantment brad, Dimensionals

Bordering on Romance: February Play Day Project Three

For our third project at February Play Day, we made a simple card with the new Bordering on Romance stamp set.  The layout was inspired by a card I saw on Beth Prout's blog, Just B.

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Bordering on Romance

CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  4-1/4 x 11 scored at 5-1/2
     Watercolor Paper:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
     Twitterpated DSP:  1 x 4-1/4 (2 pieces)
     Scraps:  Watercolor Paper
     INSIDE:
          Baja Breeze:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4
          Whisper White:  3-3/8 x 4-5/8
          Twitterpated:  3/4 x 3-3/8

INK:  Black Stazon, Pear Pizzazz, Rose Red, Baja Breeze

ACCESSORIES:  Aqua Painter, Pearls, Dimensionals, Hemp Twine, 2-1/2 Circle Punch, Paper Snips, Scalloped Border Punch

After we adhered the rows of scalloped DSP to the card base, we gently pushed up the scallops to give the card a bit more dimension.

Quilt Card: February Play Day Project Two

My very first thought when I saw the lattice die in the Stampin Up catalog was that it looked like an old fashioned wedding ring quilt!  So when I saw some cards with "quilts" I decided I needed to make one with the lattice die.  I have seen similar cards, but didn't write down any names, so if you have made one of these, it probably inspired this card!

Here is the recipe:

STAMPS:  Bring on the Cake

CARDSTOCK:
     Baja Breeze:  4-1/4 x 11 scored at 5-1/2
     Twitterpated DSP:  3-3/8 x 3-3/8
     Whisper White:  4-1/4 x 5-1/2
     Twitterpated DSP:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2
     INSIDE:
          Blushing Bride:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4
          Whisper White:  3-3/8 x 4-3/4
          Twitterpated DSP:  1 x 3-3/8

INK:  Island Indigo, Crumb Cake

ACCESSORIES:  Lattice Die, Finial Press Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Sponge, Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, Paper Snips, Scalloped Border Punch, Dimensionals, Tombo Multi Liquid Glue

To make the quilt panel, we glued the Whisper White Lattice Die Cut onto the "calico" piece of Twitterpated, let it dry for just a minute and then cut around the outside of the Lattice Die cut.  We then glued that piece onto the Blushing Bride piece of Twitterpated DSP.  The panel was then run through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Embossing Folder and sponged lightly over the top and around the edges with Soft Suede ink.

I did not take a picture of the inside of the card, but the sentiment from Bring on the Cake stamp set reads:  "Not just a year older, but a year better." which I thought went perfectly with a quilt!

Bright and Cheerful Birthday Card: February Play Day Project One

We made some birthday cards in February, and this one was my favorite.  It is so bright and cheerful, and is easy to make!  Here is a picture:

I saw an awesome card by Mary Fish and used her idea to make the packages.  It is hard to see, but there are some score lines on the white panel behind the "presents" that I made with my Simply Scored tool.

Here is another view:

Projects at Assisted Living Home in January

My friend, Dottie, and I went to a local Assisted Living Home this past month and made cards with some of the residents there.  These are the projects we made:

The little card was quite simple, a couple of layers of cardstock and DSP with the scalloped heart embosslit to make a little 3 x 3 card.  The second card used the stamp set You Are Loved, which was in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Here is the recipe for the bigger card:

STAMPS:  You Are Loved

CARDSTOCK:
Close to Cocoa (retired):  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Very Vanilla:  3-3/8 x 4-5/8
     Riding Hood Red:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Candy Lane DSP (retired):  1-1/2 X 3-3/8
Scraps:  Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red
     INSIDE:
          Riding Hood Red:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
          Very Vanilla:  3-3/8 x 4-5/8

INK:  Riding Hood Red

ACCESSORIES:  Dotted Scalloped Border Punch, Dimensionals

All of the pieces were adhered ahead of time and put on waxed paper, which made it easy for the residents to put their cards together.  It looked like this:

We had a really good time helping the ladies make their cards, which turned out beautifully!

Terrific Tag for February!

I'll bet you thought I would forget all about my resolution to do one tag each month, didn't you?  Well, I didn't, and here is my Terrific Tag for February:

This tag is bright, colorful and cheerful, and who wouldn't like these cute little snowguys, right?

Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Merry Winter

CARDSTOCK:
     Marina Mist:  3-1/2 x 5
     Old Olive:  1-3/8 x 2-3/4
     Real Red:  3 x 3
     Whisper White:  2 x 2

INK:  Old Olive

MARKERS:  Basic Black, Old Olive, Real Red, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie

ACCESSORIES:  Peek-a-boo Frame Die, Two Tags Die, Snowburst Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Sponge, White Baker's Twine, Dimensionals, Mini Jingle Bell

This was a lot of fun to make.  You can't really see it in the picture, but I used the long "strip" of snowflakes and used my Marina Mist marker to color just one and then stamp it a couple of times.

Thanks for stopping by!
