Paisley Petals DSP and Four Frames Thinking of You Card!

This card was another project for our April Play Day, and it uses the Paisley Petals DSP, which was a preview from the new 2011-2012 catalog, and the Four Frames stamp set, also a preview.  This is beautiful DSP, and fun to use with the Four Frames, as well as being a fast card, since there isn't much stamping on it.  Here is a picture:

Twisted Easel Birthday Card!

Today I want to share with you a card I made for my son-in-law's birthday.  I had been seeing twisted easel cards, and really wanted to try one, and since I had made a fancy fold for several other family members' birthdays, I decided to try one.  Here is a picture of my finished card:

I love the Celebrations Designer Series paper--it makes such bright and cheerful cards!  It made choosing the colors for the card so easy!  I also have a picture of the card opened:

Here is my recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Crazy for Cupcakes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
CARDSTOCK:
     Pacific Point:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
cut off 1-1/4" from the bottom of the front; score diagonally from center of card to bottom edge
Real Red:  4 x 4, cut in half diagonally
Celebrations DSP:  3-5/8 x 3-5/8, cut in half diagonally
     Real Red:  3-3/4 x 3-3/4 (scallop circle)
     Whisper White:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2 (3" circle)
     Real Red:  1-1/8 x 4-1/8
     Celebrations DSP:  1 x 4
     Real Red:  3-3/4 x 3-3/4
     Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 3-5/8
Scraps:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Daffodil Delight
INK:  Basic Black, Pacific Point
ACCESSORIES:  1-3/8 X 5/8 Oval Punch, 1-3/4 x 7/8 Oval Punch, Oval Scallop Punch, Old Olive brads, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Circle Scallop #2 Die, 3" Circle Die, Big Shot, Paper Snips

I based this card on the instructions found in Beth Crocker's wonderful tutorial video found at http://southerninkerbelles.blogspot.com/2011/02/easel-card-with-a-twist-video-tutorial.html

Bold Blossom Funky Fold Birthday Card!

When I first saw a card using this fold I really wasn't sure that I liked it, but when I tried it I absolutely LOVED it!  It is so much fun to make that I honestly have trouble not using it on every card!  I keep thinking of stamp sets that would be fun to use with it.  Anyway, here is a picture of a project that we made at April Play Day:

I didn't like my first picture of this card, so took some new ones and added them!  Didn't want my lack of photography skills to detract from this card!

Directions on how to cut out this type of card can be found on Laura Lipe's blog here:  http://smileslaura.blogspot.com/2011/03/leprachaun.html.

Here is my recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Bold Blossom, Bring on the Cake
CARDSTOCK:
Pear Pizzazz:  4-1/2 x 11 (follow directions for Funky Fold)
     Whisper White:  2 x 4-3/8
     Real Red:  2-1/8 x 4-1/8
Gala Greenhouse DSP:  3/4 x 4 (front bottom)
     3/4 x 4-3/8 (front sides)
Scraps:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Greenhouse Gala DSP (flower)
     Inside:
          Real Red:  3-3/4 x 4
          Whisper White:  3-5/8 x 3-7/8
INK:  Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Daffodil Delight; Chocolate Chip Marker

Valentine Defined Get Well Card

This was our fourth project from our March Play Day.  I fell in love with a beautiful card created by Michele Reynolds and used the same stamp sets and colors but changed the layout a good bit!  I especially liked the way this card used a Valentine stamp set for a different purpose, so we can get more from this set!  Here is a picture of my card:

STAMPS:  Valentine Defined, Sincere Salutations
CARDSTOCK:
     Old Olive:  5-1/2 x 6-1/4, scored at 2
     Cherry Cobbler:  3-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 2-3/4
     Daffodil Delight:  2-1/2 x 3-1/4
     Whisper White:  2-3/8 x 3-1/8
     Old Olive:  2-1/2 x 3
     Daffodil Delight:  2 x 2-7/8
     Whisper White:  1-7/8 x 2-3/4
Scraps:  Whisper White and Daffodil Delight
INK:  Cherry Cobbler
MARKERS:  Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight
ACCESSORIES:  Dotted Ribbon Border Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Sweet Buttons Embosslit, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Dimensionals

We made our "button" with the Sweet Buttons Embosslit by cutting out three buttons and gluing them together to give it more depth to look like a real button.  We used the paper piercer to poke two holes and threaded white thread thru it with a dental floss threader and knotted it.
