It has been a while since I posted on here. Had a bit of a creative block. When I hit a block like that, I usually try to work on something different for a bit and usually find my creative self again. This time, I pulled out a Stampin' Up! card kit. I thought I would just throw it together according to directions, but found that I didn't really like the "punch out" pieces, so I reworked it. Then I tried making a second card with the kit card's layout. Turned out pretty good. Anyway, Doyle had a birthday the first part of this month, and I managed to make him a pretty awesome card, using the So Much Happy stamp set and the Happy Dies. The dies had caught my eye when the catalog first came out, but this was my first time actually using them. Here is my card:
It is a bright and cheerful card, and a good card to send to anyone of any age!
MY RECIPE:
STAMPS: So Much Happy
CARDSTOCK:
Bermuda Bay: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
Night of Navy: 4 x 5-1/4
Night of Navy (for die cut): 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Playing with Patterns DSP: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
SCRAPS: Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay
INSIDE:
Night of Navy: 3-3/4 x 5
Whisper White: 3-5/8 x 4-7/8
INK: Night of Navy, Calypso Coral
ACCESSORIES: Happy Dies, Ornate Dies, Stampin' Up! Die Cut Machine, Rhinestones, Dimensionals
I finished the inside of the card like this:
HOW I MADE IT:
1. Use Night of Navy ink to stamp signature stamp on back of card base.
2. Stamp string for balloon using Night of Navy ink on lower right corner of inside panel. Use Calypso Coral ink to stamp balloon on scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Use die and Stampin' Up! die cut machine to cut out balloon.
3. Adhere inside cardstock panels together; adhere to inside of card base. Adhere balloon to top of balloon string.
4. Use the HAPPY die to cut out the die cut panel. I cut out the middle one first, then cut the top and bottom one, centering them. (I kind of eyeballed the placement).
5. Adhere the die cut to the Playing With Patterns DSP:
6. Adhere die cut panel to the 4 x 5-1/4 Night of Navy cardstock:
7. Adhere panel to front of card base. It sounds like a lot of steps, but it isn't really hard!
8. Use Night of Navy ink to stamp "birthday" on scraps of Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, and Crushed Curry cardstock. Cut out using die from Ornate Frames and Stampin' Up! Die Cut Machine. Attach to front of card base using dimensionals. See sample for placement.
9. Cut out stars from Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral cardstock using die from Happy Dies and Stampin' Up! Die Cut Machine. Adhere to front of card base. See sample for placement.
10. Add rhinestones to birthday die cuts.
Happy stamping,
Linda
