Swap Cards

I participated in a new catty swap recently with other SU Demos on Stampin Connection (demo web site), and also in a New Hues swap, hosted by my friend, Ellen, and thought I would share those cards with you.

New Catty Swap:  Baby Bundle

This was a fun card to make; I wanted a "different" look for a baby card, and really liked the baby carriage in this stamp set.  Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Baby Bundle
CARDSTOCK:
     Baja Breeze:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score at 4-1/4
     Baja Breeze:  1-3/4 x 4-1/4
     Very Vanilla:  3-5/8 x 4
Scraps:  Watercolor, Very Vanilla, Early Expresso
INK:  Stazon Black, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Early Espresso Marker
ACCESSORIES:  Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Word Window Punch, Sponge, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Dimensionals, SAMJ, Color Spritzer Tool, Very Vanilla Brads, Aqua Painter

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (it is my new favorite punch, as I say whenever something new comes out!) and have a feeling I will use it a lot!

NEW CATTY SWAP:  PLAYFUL PIECES (HOSTESS LEVEL THREE)

This card really stretched my brain, trying to come up with a creative way to use all the little stamps in this set (my brain needs stretching, so this was a good thing).  But I really liked the way it turned out; it does require a lot of cutting, though!  Here is my recipe:

STAMPS:  Playful Pieces, Short and Sweet
CARDSTOCK:
     Crumb Cake:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 (score at 4-1/4)
     Early Espresso:  4-1/8 x 5-3/8
     Crumb Cake:  4 x 5-1/4
     Early Espresso:  1-1/2 x 1-1/2 (three pieces)
Scraps:  Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Cajun Craze and More Mustard
INK:  Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Cajun Craze and More Mustard
ACCESSORIES:  Square Scallop Punch, 1/8" Early Expresso Ribbom, Dimensionals, Paper Snips

NEW HUES SWAP:  FRIENDS NEVER FADE

This card is a CASE of a card we made at July Play Day, which I will post soon.

I love this color combo; it was hard to lose some of my favorite colors in the SU Color Renovation, but this card helped me love the new colors!  Here is the recipe for this card:

STAMPS:  Friends Never Fade
CARDSTOCK:
     Pear Pizzazz:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
     Pear Pizzazz:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
     Early Espresso:  3-3/4 x 5
     Early Espresso:  1-3/4 x 2-7/16
Scrap Whisper White (trim to appx 1-5/8 x 2-5/16 after stamping)
INK:  Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzaz
ACCESSORIES:  Mini Library Clip, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Sponge, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Scallop Edge Punch

Thanks for looking at my creations!

Happy stampin and scrappin,

July Play Day Double Pocket Card

At our July Play Day, we made a double pocket card.  I made it a flat card, with a tag insert, and a second pocket that could hold a gift card, check, money, or another smaller tag.  Here is a picture of what we created:

I used the Double Pocket Card Tutorial by Beate Johns on Splitcoast Stampers, then made some minor changes in the way I made my card.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper, and it was perfect for this card!  Here is a recipe for our card:

CARDSTOCK AND PAPER:
     Baja Breeze 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
     Pear Pizzazz 4 x 5-1/4
     Whisper White 5 x 11-1/4  (score at 3-3/4 and 7-1/2)
     Greenhouse Gala DS Paper:  3 panels 3-5/8 x 2-1/8
Scraps of Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Greenhouse Gala
     For the Tag:  Chocolate Chip 2-7/8 x 4 and Whisper White 2-3/4 x 3-7/8

INK:
     Chocolate Chip

STAMPS:
     Fundamental Phrases

PUNCHES:
     Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch
     Scallop Trim Border Punch
     Scallop Oval Punch
     1-3/4 x 7/8 Oval Punch
     1-3/8 x 5/8 Oval Punch
     Corner Rounder Punch
     1-1/4 Circle Punch
     Cropadile

OTHER ACCESSORIES:
     Metallic Brads (Antique Brass)
     Dimensionals

     Paper Piercer
     Mat Pack
     Chocolate Chip Ribbon (Retired)
     Sticky Strip

Place the 5 x 11-1/4 Whisper White cardstock on your cutter and score at 3-3/4 and 7-1/2.

Trim 1-7/8 from the top of two panels (see picture):

Next trim 7/8" from the top of the end panel that has already been cut down.  Your cardstock will look like this:

Fold your score lines mountain valley style, so your cardstock looks like:

Adhere trim to the bottom panel of your Designer Series paper:

Adhere your 3 panels of Designer Series paper to your Whisper White Cardstock base:

Now your card should look something like this:

Unfold your first pocket and add Sticky Tape to the side and bottom of the pocket flap:

Take the tape liner off, fold the pocket back and adhere to the pocket base.  Unfold the second pocket and add Sticky Tape to the side and bottom of the pocket flap.  Then take the tape liner off, fold the pocket back and adhere to the pocket base as well.

Your card should look something like this:

Adhere your Pear Pizzazz cardstock to your Baja Breeze Cardstock.  Adhere the finished Pocket Base to the Pear Pizzazz cardstock, and add your sentiment, which has been stamped, punched and adhered together:

Adhere the two layers of your tag together, after the corners of both layers have been corner rounded.  Add trim (I used a circle punch of the Greenhouse Gala DS Paper and a strip of Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to my tag, then punched a hole through the center of the Greenhouse Gala DS Paper and tied a strip of Whisper White 3/8" Taffetta ribbon through it).

This card could be used as a birthday or anniversary or thank you card, since the sentiment on the outside says "For You".  You could be more specific on the inside punch by adding another stamped or handwritten sentiment.  It would be a great card to have on hand for a last minute gift!

Thanks for looking!

Happy stampin and scrappin!
