Aviary Notecard

We made this card at my friend, Melanie's, workshop last November.  I love the way it turned out so colorful and cheerful.  I think it would be a fun card to receive from someone!

CARDSTOCK:
     Old Olive:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
     Early Espresso:  2-1/2 x 4-3/4
(to make the birdhouse shape, I marked the center of the top with a pencil, and then marked
about 1-1/2" from the top on both sides, then used my cutter to cut the diagonal on both
               sides)
     Real Red:  3/4 x 4
Scraps:  Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Real Red, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose

INK:  Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Real Red

Hint:  I stamped off the Summer Silhouettes leaf stamp before stamping the background to make them a better background for the card.

Serene Silhouettes Convention 2012 Swap

This card is one I made last June for a convention swap, I believe it was called Fancy Folds and Cards that Move!  I love the way it turned out!

This fold is called by several names, but the first one I heard was Funky Fold.  I love the way it stands up to be displayed!  I used the Funky Fold directions found on Laura Lipe's blog at http://smileslaura.blogspot.com/2011/03/leprachaun.html. They are easy to follow and it makes a really fun card!
Here is a picture of the inside of the card:

Bloomin Marvelous February Play Day Project

Since February is my birthday month, I try to make four birthday cards.  Because it falls during Sale-a-Bration, I wanted to use SAB sets as well.  For our second project, we made a Z-fold card using the SAB set BLOOMIN MARVELOUS.  This particular card was inspired by one I saw that was designed by Heidi Boos and posted on Stampin Connection (a Stampin Up demo only web site) on January 22, 2013.

This card is kind of hard to photograph, but it is really easy to make.  The base cardstock is 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2 and 2-3/4.  Fold it as a regular card, then fold the front section in half and it will stand up so that when you see it from the top it resembles a "Z"!

Some other views:

I added a panel to this section of the card with the sentiment, which gives room to write a short message without worrying that it will show when the card is folded.  My friend, Sallie, suggested that it would be a great gift card holder, just attach a gift card with a removable glue dot in this section.  I thought that was a great idea!

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Bloomin Marvelous

CARDSTOCK:
     Island Indigo:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2 and 2-3/4
     Tangerine Tango:  4 x 5-1/4
     Whisper White:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
     Sycamore Street DSP:  1-1/2 x 5-1/8
     Baja Breeze:  2-1/2 x 4
     Sycamore Street DSP:  2-3/8 x 3-7/8
Scraps:  Whisper White, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango

INK:  Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango

ACCESSORIES:  Dimensionals, Pearls, Paper Snips, Oval Framelits, Dotted Scallop Border Punch, Sycamore Street 1/4" Ribbon

Best of Birthdays February Play Day Project!

February Play Day was a fun one, and also quite memorable because it snowed just after the eleven wonderful ladies who attended arrived!  It actually snowed rather hard (for Chattanooga) and the ground, sidewalk and roads were covered.  I couldn't resist taking a few pictures!

We weren't too worried about the snow; I had peanut butter and jelly for sandwiches and lots of cardstock, ink and stamps, so we knew we would have fun if we got snowed in!  Fortunately, the weather changes fast in Chattanooga, and the snow was practically gone when we were finished with our Play Day projects!

We used the BEST OF BIRTHDAYS stamp set, a special set made to celebrate Stampin Up's 25th Anniversary, to make this card at February Play Day:

This was a fun card to make!  It also showcases the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder from the Spring catalog.  To make the "Happy Birthday" oval, we inked the stamp with Midnight Muse and stamped the image onto Whisper White cardstock, cleaned the stamp and inked up with Primrose Petals, which was also stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.  We fussy cut the Midnight Muse oval and the Primrose Petals Birthday banner. then adhered the banner to the oval.  We punched a Midnight Muse oval with the largest oval punch, and adhered our stamped oval to the punched oval.
It is hard to see in the picture, but we used the color spritzer to add Midnight Muse and Primrose Petal spritz to the top of the card.

We used the CELEBRATE stamp from the Best of Birthdays on the inside of the card, stamped in Midnight Muse and colored in with Primrose Petal marker.

My Recipe:

STAMPS:  Best of Birthdays, Creative Elements

CARDSTOCK:
     Midnight Muse:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Whisper White:  4 x 5-1/4 (2)
     Primrose Petals Coredinations:  3-1/2 x 4
     Scraps:  Whisper White, Midnight Muse

INK:  Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals

MARKERS:  Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals

ACCESSORIES:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Sanding Block, Sponge Dauber, Color Spritzing Tool, Distressing Tool, Dimensionals, Midnight Muse 3/8 Stitched Ribbon, Paper Snips

Just Thinking January Play Day Card!

Thought I would share another January Play Day card today using the Just Thinking stamp from the new Spring catty.  We inked up the stamp in Cajun Craze and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out, then inked the stamp in Midnight Muse and stamped it again, cut out the word circle and attached it to the card with dimensionals.

I love the masculine feel of this card, which could be used for many occasions.

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Just Thinking

CARDSTOCK:
     Midnight Muse:  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
     Cajun Craze:  4 x 5-1/4

Oh, Hello January Play Day Card

This is one of our January Play Day projects, using the Oh, Hello stamp set:

I really liked the way this card turned out.  I had trouble figuring out how to use the oval chevron stamp in the set, so we stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla, then punched out a 2-1/2 circle with the circle punch.  The stamped area isn't 2-1/2", so there was a blank section on the circle, which is what we cut off on the left side!  I hope that makes sense!

My recipe:

STAMPS:  Oh, Hello and That's the Ticket

CARDSTOCK:
     Sahara Sand:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4
     Island Indigo:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
     Very Vanilla:  3-3/4 x 5
     Scraps:  Very Vanilla, Island Indigo

INK:  Sahara Sand, Island Indigo

ACCESSORIES:  Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Neddlepoint Border Embossing Folder, Delicate Doilies Sizzlet Die, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Ticket Punch, Dimensionals, Big Shot, Pearls, Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy stampin and scrappin,
